My high school band took a field trip to see the Boston Pops.
However this wasn’t any random show, the school granted us the honor of witnessing John Williams conducting his iconic film scores.
Although my unmatched excitement had me reeling before the show even began, it didn’t prepare me for how intensely this night would weave itself into the fabric of my heart.
Deep into the show, after multiple pieces had left me awestruck, John Williams raises his baton and cues a single player. A French horn echoes out as the first four notes of the Jurassic Park theme ominously bellow throughout Symphony Hall.
I instantly sobbed.
For the entirety of the piece my face laid in my hands, soaked with tears.
I hadn’t understood the full breadth of emotional impact art could have on somebody, until it happened to me.
I create to reach people. With my psychology degree I strive to understand how people think, so we can understand how to connect with each other.
